Rice Pudding

Who has had this delicious dessert? My father used to make this when I was young. This is one of those desserts that is, not only good for you, but the flavor combinations are endless. Rice by itself does not have much flavor so almost any flavor will go.

I could not find when this dessert was first created. I can tell you that the Europeans used this dish, made with goat’s milk, for medicinal purposes. Rice first came to Europe by means of India. So, it is said that the dish was first created in the middle east. There are recipes of baked rice puddings that date back to the early 17th century in Europe. Although every region seems to have their own variation of this dish. And as just a little fun fact, August 9th is National Rice Pudding day.

This dessert is made with rice, milk, sugar and flavorings. It is a fairly easy dish to make, and so worth it. Healthy and delicious. How can that be wrong? It can’t.
